Can a blood test detect mycoplasma infection?

Mycoplasma infection cannot be detected by routine blood tests. Serology checks for antibodies to Mycoplasma pneumoniae. People infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae can produce specific IgM and IgG. IgM appears early, one week after infection, so IgM positivity represents an acute infection. Whether there is mycoplasma infection, pathogenic testing can be done. If mycoplasma infection in the lung is considered, sputum is taken for pathogenic testing. If it is a male, consider male disease and take urethral discharge for pathogenic testing. If female, take gynecologic leukorrhea for pathogenic testing. In treatment, pathogenic testing should be used as much as possible to find evidence of mycoplasma infection.
