Early stage breast cancer, often without typical signs and symptoms, is usually detected and diagnosed by patients by physical examination, or screening. Breast cancer with typical clinical manifestations is usually no longer in the early stages. Typical clinical signs include breast lumps, nipple discharge, breast skin changes, abnormal nipples (e.g. dimpling), and enlarged axillary lymph nodes.
