What level of fetal maturity can be born

The timing of labor depends mainly on when the mother initiates contractions rather than on the maturity of the placenta, which is usually considered in late pregnancy when the placenta reaches maturity level 2. The placental maturity level will change as the pregnancy progresses. Clinically, placental maturity is classified into 0, 1, 2 and 3, where 1 indicates immature placenta, 2 indicates partially mature placenta, and 3 indicates fully mature placenta. In clinical practice, most women deliver with a normal placenta maturity of grade 2, while a grade 3 placenta may be dangerous to the fetus. The maturity of the placenta is not fully correlated with the delivery, and sometimes the maternal complications such as intrauterine distress may not be considered too much, so it is recommended that the mother should follow the guidance of her doctor to choose the right time and method of delivery. In late pregnancy, women should have regular checkups, observe whether the fetal movement changes, follow up on any discomfort, perform fetal heart monitoring, and choose the appropriate delivery method to terminate the pregnancy.
