Dry Eye Nemesis Drugs

Due to the individual differences of patients, there is no so-called nemesis medication for the treatment of dry eye. Generally, dry eye can be treated by applying eye ointment, using artificial tears and surgery. 1. Eye ointment: Eye ointment contains certain oily substances, which can effectively protect the tear film, help reduce the evaporation of tears, and can stay in the eye for a longer period of time, which can help alleviate the discomfort caused by dry eye. Clinically used eye ointment has recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor ophthalmic gel, tobramycin dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment and so on. 2. Artificial tears: dry eye is a sterile disease, patients can use artificial tears to improve the discomfort caused by dry eye. Commonly used artificial tears include sodium vitrate eye drops, polyvinyl alcohol eye drops, sodium carboxymethylcellulose eye drops and so on. 3. Surgery: Severe cases of dry eye can also be treated with surgery. The most common surgical option for treating dry eye is tear duct embolization surgery. Tear duct embolization surgery, is to block the channel between the tears and the nose, prolonging the time the tears stay in the eyes, thus resolving dry eye. If dry eye disease continues to progress, it may lead to complications such as conjunctivitis and keratitis. If eye discomfort occurs, patients are advised to seek medical attention in a timely manner to avoid delaying their condition, and if medication is needed for treatment, it should also be used under the guidance of a specialized doctor and in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
