What’s wrong with foot cramps?

Cramps in the feet are mainly due to the following two possibilities: 1. Calcium deficiency, because the blood calcium is relatively low leading to cramps in the lower legs, generally known as spasmodic pain, the symptoms can be relieved after rest, but easy to recur. The diagnosis of this condition requires a blood calcium test at the hospital, and if the calcium deficiency is clear, the symptoms can be relieved with calcium supplementation. 2. If the foot cramps or calf cramps are caused by nerve roots compressed by lumbar disc herniation, such pains generally present pulling pains, discharge-like pains, and occasional cramping sensations. The cause of this condition is in the lumbar region, and the symptoms appear because of the nerve compression by the herniated disc. Treatment should be based on treating the symptoms in the lumbar region, and usually requires oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, together with dehydrating, anti-inflammatory and nerve-nourishing drugs, and oral muscle relaxants if necessary.
