What should I pay attention to in orthodontics?

1, oral hygiene: patients wearing fixed aligners need to pay special attention to oral hygiene. Morning and evening and after eating, before the follow-up consultation must be brushed, to brush the teeth on the soft tartar and retained food carefully, otherwise easy to cause gingivitis, periodontal disease, dental decalcification and dental caries, affecting the orthodontic process and oral health. 2. Wear retractors (face arch) and elastic traction: these forces are applied to the teeth to move the teeth to a predetermined position, the duration of wear will affect the movement of the teeth, please wear as required by the doctor. When taking on the extra-oral arch, you should hold the extra-oral arch by hand and remove the elastic ring first, then take off the extra-oral arch to avoid accidental injury to the teeth and facial tissues and organs. 3, pain and discomfort: After the first wearing aligners and each review of the force, teeth may appear mild reactive pain or discomfort, which generally lasts 3-5 days to reduce and disappear. If the pain is not reduced for 3-5 days but increased, or other conditions, you need to contact the doctor for examination. 4, to protect the orthodontic device: in the treatment process of fixed braces, you can not eat hard, sticky food, large pieces of food to get smaller before eating to prevent damage to the braces. If the band ring loosens, the arch wire breaks and other conditions that affect oral function, you should contact your doctor in a timely manner to determine whether you need to come to the hospital to deal with. The orthodontic appliance off, damaged to our hospital for follow-up consultation need to pay the relevant fees. 5, cooperate with the problem: for most patients, patient cooperation will obtain significant results, the orthodontic process must comply with medical advice. Generally wear a fixed orthotic after every four weeks or so after a follow-up visit. If the patient does not attend the appointment on time or if the patient and parents cannot follow the doctor’s instructions and actively cooperate, the orthodontic teeth will lose therapeutic control and there may be abnormal tooth displacement or no progress in treatment, with consequences at their own risk. For patients who do not come to the clinic for three consecutive months, the treatment will be considered automatically terminated and the fees paid will not be refunded. If you want to treat again you need to re-register and start again according to the new patient procedure, and the fee will be charged according to the new patient. 6. Growth control problem: Patients are in the growth period until the age of 18, if the jaw growth pattern is abnormal (which is unpredictable by the doctor), the treatment result is unsatisfactory, and the abnormal growth can be manifested as deformity recurrence during the maintenance period. Part of the orthodontic treatment needs to take advantage of the patient’s growth potential, if the patient does not follow the medical advice to actively cooperate, the treatment will be lost. Bad habits: Bad oral habits such as mouth breathing, finger sucking, lip biting, tongue spitting (abnormal swallowing) can prevent teeth from moving to the correct position or relapse after aligner removal. 8, the efficacy of the problem: Although the vast majority are for aesthetic purposes, and most orthodontic treatment can properly improve the patient’s appearance, but orthodontic treatment is not plastic surgery, only the movement of teeth, soft tissue movement and tooth movement is not exactly the same concept. The practitioner’s design plan takes into account the patient’s requirements, health, aesthetics, function, and stability, and may not fully meet all of your requirements or special preferences, but we will do our best to provide you with the best treatment results possible with the current state of medical care.
