How long does it take for infant jaundice to go away?

Neonatal jaundice is one of the most common symptoms of the neonatal period, especially in premature newborns. It can be a symptom that occurs during the normal development of the newborn, or it can be a manifestation of certain diseases. Physiological jaundice can subside in about 14 days for full-term infants and 21 days for premature infants. 2, pathological jaundice can be hemolytic jaundice, or jaundice caused by certain viral infections, the remission time of pathological jaundice is dependent on the degree of disease improvement and control. 3, breast milk jaundice is generally caused by the child eating breast milk jaundice, bilirubin maintained within a certain value up and down, but the value will not be particularly high, will not cause the child bilirubin encephalopathy, basically in about 2 to 3 months to be able to subside, this situation does not have any impact on the child. The time it takes for the jaundice to subside depends on the disease itself. If the jaundice is not physiological, we need to identify the cause and treat it symptomatically. The only way to get rid of jaundice in this case is to remove the triggering factors and to protect the liver function of the child. If the bilirubin is above the normal range, phototherapy is needed, otherwise hyperbilirubinemia can cause irreversible damage to the child.
