When do false contractions start?

Pseudocontractions usually begin to appear after 28 weeks of pregnancy and are more frequent 2-3 weeks before delivery. Pseudocontractions are usually painless, usually occurring at night and gradually relieved during the day, with normal cervical canal pattern and no shortening or dilatation of the uterine opening on ultrasound. After 28 weeks of pregnancy, due to the gradual enlargement of the fetus and the gradual descent of the fetal head, the lower part of the uterus is stimulated by pulling, and if the pregnant woman keeps the same posture for a long time, she may feel occasional tightening of the abdomen, resulting in strong and irregular pseudo contractions. During the 2-3 weeks before delivery, the uterine muscles are more sensitive and prone to irregular uterine contractions, which last for a short time and are weak, or are limited to the lower abdomen or groin area, and then stop after a few hours, irregular and non-periodic. In the case of pseudocontractions, no special intervention is usually needed, only a reduction in activity and proper rest, and the pseudocontractions can be gradually relieved. The cervical morphology needs to be monitored regularly during pregnancy. If the examination suggests shortening of the cervical morphology with dilatation of the uterine orifice, the tendency of miscarriage and preterm delivery is considered, and medications need to be applied under the guidance of the doctor for fetal preservation treatment in order to prolong the gestational weeks and improve the survival of the fetus.
