What are the dangers of snoring?

Life 1/3 of the time is spent in sleep, now it is found that more than 80 kinds of sleep disorders plague people’s peace, no normal sleep which comes to a healthy and happy life? Epidemiological survey: the prevalence of snoring is about 19% in our population, 25% in men, 15% in women, and about 30% in people aged 40-69. One of the most harmful diseases among snorers is obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome (OSAHS). shallow and slow breathing and pauses during sleep in OSAHS patients can lead to recurrent episodes of hypoxia, hypercapnia and micro-awakening, which can cause multi-organ functional damage. Studies now confirm that obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome can lead to the following: (1) Cardiovascular diseases: hypertension, arrhythmia, heart failure, coronary artery disease. (2) Respiratory diseases: pulmonary heart disease, respiratory failure, nocturnal asthma. (3) Neuropsychiatric diseases: ischemic cerebrovascular disease, cerebral hemorrhage, excessive drowsiness, Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss, personality changes (depression). (4) Endocrine disorders: diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, growth retardation in children. (5) Sexual dysfunction: impotence, loss of libido. (6) Renal damage: proteinuria, increased nocturia. (7) Pregnant women with OSAHS can also cause deterioration of the environment for fetal conception. (8) Other: headache, gastroesophageal reflux disease, erythrocytosis, altered platelet function with abnormal coagulation mechanism, etc. glaucoma, visual field defects, and damage to the urinary and muscular systems. Especially hypertension, 1/3 hypertension is caused by OSAHS, 45%-48% of OSAHS patients have hypertension, moderate and severe OSAHS patients are closely associated with cardiovascular death, and sleep apnea developed to a certain degree can also cause sudden death at night. Therefore, early detection of snoring and OSAHS through nasopharyngeal examination and sleep apnea monitoring in hospital otorhinolaryngology department is especially important to prevent cardiovascular diseases and other secondary multi-organ functional damage.
