What’s wrong with high leukocyte esterase in the white belt?

Vaginitis is one of the most common outpatient diseases among women. When women visit a gynecology clinic for various discomforts such as itching, redness, swelling, and pain, along with a high volume of leukorrhea, abnormal color, and odor, the doctor will collect a specimen of leukorrhea for laboratory testing.

Leukocyte esterase is a specific enzyme produced by human leukocytes, and this enzyme is only found in neutrophils. If inflammation occurs in the body, this class of cells will accumulate near the inflammatory lesion and release esterase in large quantities. If the presence of this enzyme is detected in the leukorrhea specimen, it means that neutrophils, or inflammatory cells, are present in the leukorrhea, which is indicative of vaginal inflammation. Of course, other laboratory results of the leukorrhea should be combined to determine what pathogens are causing the inflammation so that the appropriate medication, regimen and dosage can be selected for each pathogen.

For vaginitis, although it is common, it should be treated under the guidance of a professional doctor. Do not abuse drugs on your own, as this will damage the microenvironment of the vagina, causing an imbalance in the flora and causing recurring episodes of vaginitis that are not easily treated.
