Are there any up-to-date medications for dry syndrome?

There is no cure for dry syndrome and there are no up-to-date therapeutic agents available. The main treatments are local treatment, systemic treatment, biological agents (such as rituximab) and so on.
1. Local treatment: stop smoking, drinking alcohol and avoid taking drugs that cause dry mouth, keep the mouth clean and reduce oral infections. The use of artificial tears such as hydroxymethylcellulose or increasing the humidity of the air can relieve the symptoms of dry eyes.
2. Systemic treatment: For patients with extra-salivary gland manifestations such as arthritis, interstitial lung disease, etc., glucocorticoids such as prednisone, immunosuppressants such as hydroxychloroquine, cyclophosphamide and other drugs can be given to control the condition.
3. Biological agents: anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody such as rituximab can be used to inhibit B lymphocyte production.
If the patient has dry syndrome, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time and carry out the relevant treatment under the guidance of a specialist. Drugs should be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medication.
