What are allergic diseases?

What are allergic diseases? Like diabetes and obesity, the World Health Organization (WHO), the largest public health organization of the century, has clearly stated that “allergic diseases have become the global disease affecting human health in the 21st century.” World Allergy Day is celebrated every year on July 8. How do allergies arise? Allergies are abnormal immune reactions that occur when the body is exposed to one or more substances that are harmless to most people, but can trigger allergy-related symptoms in patients with allergic diseases. Allergies are also genetically predisposed, with one parent having an allergy, children are twice as likely to develop allergies, and both parents having allergies, children are four times as likely to develop allergies. Allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic dermatitis and eczema are common allergic diseases. 80% of asthma patients have allergic rhinitis and 40% of allergic rhinitis patients have allergic asthma, which is caused by the body’s allergy to one or more allergens, resulting in shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chest tightness and coughing, often at night and in the early morning. The precursors to the onset of asthma in patients with allergic rhinitis will be sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, itchy eyes, and watery eyes. Severe allergic asthma can be life-threatening if not treated in time. As we all know, allergens are the culprits of allergic diseases. Common inhalant allergens include: mites, cockroaches, animal fur, pollen, and mold. Non-inhalant allergens include: peanuts, nuts, wheat, beans, eggs, milk, seafood, fruits, etc. And dust mites are currently the most important allergens for allergic diseases in China. Therefore, patients with allergic diseases should actively undergo allergen testing to clarify the causes of allergies, effectively avoid exposure and reduce the occurrence of allergic reactions. It is also easier for doctors to develop targeted and more effective treatment plans. How should allergic diseases be treated? The “four-in-one” concept recommended by the World Health Organization, including allergen removal, medication, immunotherapy and health education, is an effective treatment for allergic diseases. Of course, bronchial thermoplasty is also available for severe asthma to relieve the patient’s condition.
