Can a toothache cause a headache?

Whether a toothache can cause a headache depends on the specific cause of the toothache and cannot be generalized. Toothache is usually caused by tooth decay, pulpitis and inflammation of tooth root. In case of tooth decay, there is usually a small black hole on the surface of the tooth, and the pain is more obvious after hot or cold stimulation, but the pain will disappear immediately after removing the stimulation and will not cause a headache. In case of root tip inflammation, there is usually a feeling of floating and swelling of the tooth, biting pain, etc., and there is no headache. If infection occurs, headache and fever may occur. In the case of pulpitis, the pain will be radiated to the same side of the head with the trigeminal nerve, causing a headache, as well as tooth pain caused by too cold, too hot, too sour, too sweet, etc. The pain will be more pronounced at night, and it will be impossible to distinguish which tooth is hurting when the pain occurs. When a toothache occurs, you can go to the dentist for dental films and other examinations to clarify the cause of the disease and treat it accordingly. You should pay attention to oral hygiene, brush your teeth in the morning and evening, and rinse your mouth after meals.
