Causes of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female genital canal. The causes of uterine fibroids are not yet clear, and may be related to estrogen and progesterone levels and chromosomal abnormalities in the body. 1, related to female hormones: uterine fibroids tend to occur in women aged 30-50, rare before puberty, and shrink or fade after menopause, suggesting that they may be related to female sex hormones. In addition, the growth of fibroids is obvious under the stimulation of pregnancy or other high sex hormones, such as the consumption of health products containing hormones or long-term heavy use of birth control pills, which also indicates that the occurrence of fibroids is likely to be related to female sex hormones. Fibroid tissue is highly sensitive to estrogen and can promote fibroid growth when estrogen levels are high in the patient’s body. In addition, progesterone has also been confirmed to have the role of promoting the growth of fibroids. 2, related to chromosomal abnormalities: Some studies have shown that 25%-50% of uterine fibroids have cytogenetic abnormalities, suggesting that the presence of some fibroids may be related to chromosomal abnormalities. In summary, uterine fibroids are greatly associated with female hormones, age and mental stress are its risk factors for inducing fibroids, also some fibroids are related to family genetics, its development is likely to be the result of a combination of factors.
