How many days after the general cesarean section to have poop

Normal vaginal delivery usually resumes defecation function 24h after delivery, while cesarean delivery usually resumes defecation function 48-72h after surgery. Cesarean section is divided into intraperitoneal cesarean section and extraperitoneal cesarean section, of which extraperitoneal cesarean section is an operation without intraperitoneal cavity and causes less stimulation to the gastrointestinal tract. However, prolonged bed rest and intraoperative application of anesthetic drugs in patients undergoing cesarean section may result in reduced bowel motility. In addition, the extreme stretching and dilatation of the pelvic floor muscles during delivery can lead to congestion and edema, as well as fatigue of the abdominal muscles during the second stage of labor, which cannot restore their elasticity in a short period of time, combined with excessive breath-holding, excessive shouting, deep and large breathing, and water-electrolyte disorders during labor, which can also lead to reduced defecation function after delivery. Therefore, pregnant women can generally resume defecation 2-3 days after the operation, and those who deliver by normal delivery recover faster than those who deliver by cesarean section. In addition, it is recommended that pregnant women should drink more water, eat food rich in coarse fiber and get out of bed as early as possible after cesarean section to help the recovery of defecation function.
