What about children who stutter?

Stuttering is a psychogenic disorder, which is a normal speech disorder, not a physical defect or a disease of the articulatory organs. It is caused by the loss of the brain’s control and regulation of the articulatory organs, as well as the incorrect method of breathing and pronunciation. Children with stuttering show difficulty in pronunciation, repetition of speech, red face, and tension in the muscles of the back of the neck and emotion, loss of fluency in speech, pause in a word, stress and dragging, and also sudden stop in speech or dragging a word for a long time. This is especially true when you are excited and are too anxious to speak. The methods of correcting stuttering in young children: 1. Adults should not laugh at the affected child, and should not make fun of him/her by imitation. 2. 2. Parents should be patient and help their children to find out the reasons for stuttering, eliminate tension and put down the burden of thought. 3, for mental tension caused by habitual stuttering, the child should be trained to have confidence, to be brave, cheerful and calm, which is an important condition for correcting stuttering. Always keep a relaxed and happy mood. 4 Conduct basic training on the child’s pronunciation, try to relax the muscles of the mouth and throat, and do breathing exercises. Pronounce various single sounds when exhaling long breaths, and later practice the lip sounds that do not come out and the articulatory movements of the tongue and chin. Find out the phonemes that usually have difficulties in pronunciation, and let them repeat the single sound containing this phoneme for many times. 5.Based on the basic training of pronunciation, instruct your child to read aloud sentences, practice short sentences first and then long sentences. This training will help your child form a rhythmic, fast and slow language habit. The above two exercises can be practiced alone in an environment without outsiders to eliminate mental tension. 6. Enrich children’s vocabulary and help them to express their thoughts correctly. Do not rush or push your child when he or she speaks, and listen patiently to him or her finish his or her sentence. Give them more opportunities to speak, such as retelling short stories, etc. You should find opportunities to give praise and encouragement during training in order to build confidence. Parents are the first teachers of early childhood enlightenment. Before the age of 5 is the main period for the formation of human language and memory cells, and it is also the best period for young children to learn and master language. Therefore, young parents should lose no time in early language education, so that their children can speak early and master oral language to ensure the healthy intellectual development of young children.
