How soon can you walk normally after tibial fracture surgery

How soon you can walk normally after tibial fracture surgery depends on the fracture condition and the surgery method, and cannot be generalized. Tibial fractures are divided into simple fractures and complex fractures, and complex fractures include comminuted fractures and multisegmental fractures. In most patients, the fibrous scab can be formed gradually in 3-4 weeks, and after 2 months, the bone deposit can be formed, and it takes longer time for the relatively strong scab to form. In case of simple fractures, it usually takes 2 months to walk with crutches and 3 months if walking normally; in case of complex fractures, it may take 6-8 months to walk normally. Patients are advised to avoid walking on the ground prematurely so as not to affect the normal recovery. At the same time, it is recommended to strengthen nutrition, enhance physical fitness, drink less carbonated beverages to prevent calcium loss, do not stay up late, do not smoke and drink, and pay attention to the warmth of legs and feet to prevent catching cold.
