Does a convex mouth cause an increase in lines? Will it improve after orthodontic treatment?

Mouth convexity is medically known as maxillary prognathism, or jaw prognathism. It is caused by the following reasons: Due to problems in the development of the bones, such as prolonged mouth breathing or the habit of biting the thumb as a child, the teeth jaws are smaller and the teeth are too large to push forward, pushing the jaws to the front and causing the prognathism. However, this jaw protrusion does not cause the problem of deepening nasolabial folds. This condition is not a protrusion of the front jaw, but the area of the pear-shaped foramen in the nasolabial fissure of the upper jaw, where the upper jaw is underdeveloped and the jaw is normally developed, will appear to be sunken in the middle of the face and deepen the nasolabial fissure. Can orthodontic treatment change the jawbone prominence? If the jaws are convex, orthodontic treatment is not very useful. If it is currently in childhood, it can be corrected by removing habits such as mouth breathing and thumb eating, after which the teeth slowly return to a normal state. If there is already a proclination, you will need to see an orthodontist to restrict the teeth that need to be straightened from growing further forward. If the teeth are larger and are slowly moving forward against the jawbone, they need to be corrected at an early stage, where the teeth can be extracted and the jawbone can be fixed to keep them from growing forward. However, for this procedure, it usually needs to be done before the age of 18 and can best be done around the age of 13 to 16. If it is done after the age of 18, the results may not be as obvious, so it is important to hurry. If you are a junior high school age child and you find some convexity in your mouth, you can ask your parents to see an orthodontist in a timely manner to have the teeth extracted and corrected to prevent your child from having the symptoms of convexity in the mouth. If the child is already an adult, the jaw protrusion will not be retracted in this area. It is not very useful to improve the jaw protrusion, as well as the concavity of the upper jaw. If you need to improve the sunken nasolabial folds, you can do so according to the specific cause, which is generally not related to the jaws.
