The most dangerous months of pregnancy twins

There are two most dangerous stages of carrying twins, one in the first 3 months of pregnancy and one after 28 weeks (7 months) of pregnancy. Twin pregnancies are prone to complications such as gestational hypertension, intrahepatic cholestasis during pregnancy, anemia, postpartum hemorrhage, and premature delivery with fetal growth restriction, which is a high-risk pregnancy category. In early pregnancy, the relatively high hormone levels stimulated by the twins themselves sometimes lead to malnutrition of the uterus supporting the gestational sac resulting in preterm miscarriage. The first trimester of pregnancy is extremely critical for the development of the embryo, so it is a more dangerous period for twin development. The second trimester, that is, after 28 weeks, is also dangerous because the twins occupy a large volume, which leads to the relative smallness of the space of the organs of the pregnant woman, making it easy for premature rupture of the membranes and placental abruption to occur, which can further cause various conditions such as chest tightness and shortness of breath and poor sleep. Therefore, the first three months of pregnancy and after 28 weeks of pregnancy are the most dangerous, we must pay attention to the symptoms of discomfort and seek medical attention.
