Can patients with acute coronary syndrome drink alcohol?

Some studies have shown that light to moderate alcohol consumption is associated with a reduction in cardiovascular mortality; others have shown that light to moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk of coronary heart disease compared to no alcohol or heavy alcohol consumption. Individuals who do not currently drink alcohol or do not enjoy drinking alcohol are not advised to drink alcohol solely to reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease; if patients have alcohol-related conditions such as alcohol-related psychiatric disorders, liver disease, gastrointestinal disorders, etc., not only is alcohol not recommended but also prompt abstinence from alcohol; the remainder may drink alcohol in moderation.
