If the vaginal itch is caused by a fungal infection, vaginal treatment with clotrimazole suppositories can be used. However, there are many causes of vaginal itching and if it is not caused by fungal infection, vaginal treatment with clotrimazole suppositories is not curative. Therefore, if a woman has vaginal itching, she should go to the hospital for a routine leucorrhoea examination and get the right treatment according to the results of the routine examination. In case of trichomoniasis, clotrimazole suppositories will not only fail to treat the condition but will also cause some uncomfortable symptoms. In case of trichomoniasis, metronidazole suppositories can be given for vaginal topical treatment. In case of bacterial vaginosis, Diazotide ointment can be given vaginally and only mycosis fungoides can be given vaginally.
