I feel like I can’t cough up phlegm in my throat and can’t swallow it.

Feeling phlegm in the throat, the more common diseases are chronic pharyngitis or pharyngeal reflux disease. The causes are: First, the submucosal lymphoid follicles in the throat are proliferating and bulging, and there will be sticky secretions attached to the surface. Patients have an irritating dry cough in the morning, but no obvious secretions are coughed up, and the foreign body sensation is mostly obvious when swallowing saliva, but not obvious when swallowing food, and the location is not fixed. Second, acid reflux causes edema of the mucous membrane in the throat, resulting in increased foreign body sensation, and patients need to clear their throat frequently to relieve the symptoms. Third, if there is also chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, such as the nose, it will cause the spread of inflammation downward, as well as the backflow of secretions, resulting in the aggravation of foreign body sensation. Fourth, when patients have this symptom, they will have frequent throat movements as well as swallow a lot of air, which will lead to aggravation of the symptoms.
