Allergic cough often presents as a paroxysmal, irritating dry cough, mostly easily induced by oil fumes, cigarette smoke, dust, cold air and prolonged speech; normal sputum eosinophils, no airway hyperreactivity, effective treatment with glucocorticoids and antihistamines.
