About 70% of cancer patients require radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer, and about 40% of cancers can be cured radically with radiotherapy. The role and status of radiotherapy in cancer treatment is becoming more and more prominent, and it has become one of the main means of treating malignant tumors. In the face of cancer treatment, besides learning how to adjust their mindset and face it positively, how to prevent and reduce the side effects arising from the treatment process is also an issue that cancer patients need to deal with. Depending on the dose of radiation received, the location of exposure, the scope of exposure, the mode and technique of exposure, the presence or absence of combined diabetes, the presence or absence of combined chemotherapy, and the sensitivity of individual cells, certain skin problems may occur, so how to deal with them? Avoid exposing the irradiated area to sunlight. When cleaning the irradiated area, it is advisable to use slightly warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, neutral cleanser to reduce irritation, and to avoid products containing highly irritating preservatives (MI/MCI) or parabens. When washing, avoid rubbing the skin as much as possible, and preferably use a soft towel to absorb water by patting or pressing gently. For patients undergoing head radiation treatment, it is recommended to use a neutral shampoo that does not irritate the scalp. Wear cotton, soft clothing to reduce skin friction and irritation. In addition, be careful not to remove the markings made on the irradiated area at the time of treatment until the radiation treatment is completed. Second, after the radiation treatment begins, once the skin starts to appear dry, you should apply water-based moisturizing products in the morning and evening to strengthen the skin’s water locking and moisturizing, so as to reduce the chance of the skin turning from dryness to flaking. If you wait until your skin turns red or dark before applying it, the effect will be greatly reduced. As for the choice of moisturizing lotion, it should be simple, fragrance-free, and especially free of lanolin (e.g., lanolin) ingredients. Before and after treatment, patients should pay attention to the following matters: 1. Before each radiation treatment, avoid applying any maintenance products to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce the chance of dermatitis; 2. Before using or applying any daily maintenance or care products, you should seek the advice of your medical and nursing colleagues.
