Is oral health care important during pregnancy and childbirth?

  Many women attach great importance to self-care after pregnancy, including reasonable nutrition and diet, some safe physical exercise, regular prenatal checkups at the hospital, no smoking, no alcohol, etc. But the oral health of mothers-to-be is often neglected by themselves and their families, always thinking that compared with other diseases, the “small problems” in the mouth will not bring big trouble. Compared with other diseases, the “small problems” in the oral cavity will not bring big trouble.  However, in China’s Ministry of Health issued the “2004-2010 China Oral Health Care Work Plan” in the oral health care specific objectives of the first content is the rural pregnant women to receive oral care training rate of 50%, urban pregnant women for 80%; 2005 National Dental Day theme for pregnant women oral protection, its central slogan for the care of pregnant women oral health (Care for Maternal Oral Health), why the attention to the oral health of pregnant women to such an important position? This is because maintaining the oral health of women during pregnancy and childbirth can enhance the general health of women and their children, improve the quality of life, and have a great impact on achieving the goal of eugenics.
