It can be seen in gingivitis, periodontitis, dental caries (tooth decay) or fractured teeth leading to pulp (dental nerve) infection, dentin hypersensitivity, wedge-shaped defects, etc. in Western medicine. There is a difference between primary (localized) toothache caused by the direct cause of the teeth and gums themselves (mainly toothache caused by some oral diseases) and concurrent toothache caused by some systemic diseases and psychological factors of the patient. The cause of the disease is heat accumulation in the large intestine and stomach, or the wind evil attacking the meridians, which is depressed in Yangming and turns into fire, and the fire evil following the meridians to inflame; or the kidney yin deficiency, deficiency of fire to inflame; or the preference for sweet and sour things to cause the spleen to deficient in transportation and transformation, unclean mouth and teeth, dirt and dirt erosion of teeth induced tooth pain.
