Why is the child not speaking clearly?

Many parents worry about their children when they reach the age of learning to speak, but some of their words are not clear. They worry that their children will face difficulties and undue frustration in educational, social, psychological and other areas. These parents are probably more anxious than their children themselves. In fact, most parents are a little over-worried. Introduce several possible causes of unclear speech in children. 1, central nervous dysplasia and mental retardation. Language is a high-level neural activity that requires the synergy of multiple nerve centers to complete. The same is true for the sound form of language, also known as speech. However, this is not very common and parents can make initial judgments on their own. 2. Hearing impairment. Hearing impairment caused by various reasons may also affect the child’s learning and imitation during the phonological development period. Parents should pay attention to the observation, if necessary, should go to the hospital for hearing examination. 3.Spiritual and psychological problems. A more typical example is autism. However, this type of problem is difficult for parents to determine on their own, and should be examined and diagnosed by a professional psychiatrist. 4. Developmental defects of the phonological organs. The phonological organs include the lips, cheeks, tongue, palate, teeth, and pharynx. The vocal folds are not part of the phonatory organs, but the articulatory organs. The developmental deformity of the organ of articulation often causes more severe slurred speech. The most common of these disorders is cleft lip and palate. Many parents think that the short tongue tie is the main cause of unclear speech, and even some non-dental doctors think so, which is a great misunderstanding. As long as the tongue tie does not seriously affect the tongue movement, it rarely affects the pronunciation. 5. Congenital incomplete palatopharyngeal closure and congenital dysarthria. In some cases, children who do not see obvious developmental deformities and do not have the first three problems, but still have unclear speech, may belong to this type of problem. The diagnosis of this type of problem should be seen by a doctor and not just a guess. It should be noted that, among the above five conditions, the 4th and 5th are relatively common, but they are treatable. If correctly diagnosed and treated, the child’s speech and pronunciation can be basically the same as normal people.
