What is a precursor to foot cramps?

There are many causes of foot cramps and they are not necessarily due to disease. Foot cramps are likely to be triggered when there is a deficiency of calcium ions in the patient’s body, commonly seen in vitamin D deficiency, hypoparathyroidism and chronic renal failure. Apart from disease factors, foot cramps can also be caused by cold, excessive fatigue, not stretching before exercise and keeping the body in the same position for a long time.
