Atrial flutter has the following dangers.
Stroke and thromboembolism: atrial flutter increases the risk of ischaemic stroke and embolism of the arteries of the body circulation.
heart failure: both heart failure and atrial flutter share the same risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and heart valve disease, and atrial flutter increases the prevalence of heart failure and worsens its symptoms
Myocardial infarction: patients with atrial flutter are at increased risk of myocardial infarction, but this is less age-related.
