The discovery of the abilities of newborns is considered an important event in the history of science in the twentieth century, a leap in mankind’s understanding of itself, which provides a basis for us to carry out scientifically the potential of a new life from the time of its birth. Previously, it was thought that newborns only knew how to cry, eat, sleep and nothing else, but after the 1960s, it was discovered that newborns have six states of consciousness, from sleeping, waking to crying, and that each has specific behaviors. Surprisingly, newborns can open their eyes to look at their mothers within a few minutes of birth, and within a few days after birth, they have a certain ability to see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and move. Imitation: Within 8 hours of birth, infants can imitate their mother’s tongue. Sound Orientation: In the waking state, a small plastic box with a small amount of corn or soybeans, gently shaken in the distance from the newborn’s ear at 10-15cm, a very soft sound, the baby will turn his eyes or turn his head to the direction of the sound. The newborn baby likes to listen to high pitched sounds, likes to listen to people talking, and will turn his head when his mother calls him. If books are listened to and read to every day after birth, the baby establishes an interest and habit of reading that will have an impact on his life. His development of concentration and language skills will be amazingly ahead of schedule. Gaze and follow: Newborns love to look at things, especially things with bright colors, such as red balls or black and white bullseye charts, bar graphs, Chinese characters, and so on. They also like to look at faces, especially their mother’s loving smile, and if you put on your glasses, they will be more attracted to them. Touch, taste and smell: newborns like to lie close to the mother’s arms, when the baby cries, you put your hand on the baby’s abdomen and gently press the two upper arms, the baby will not cry. Newborns can finely distinguish taste, for salty, bitter, sour taste will have an unpleasant expression. When smelling an odor, there is a response of increased heart rate and change in activity level, and he can distinguish the odor of his mother’s breast pad. In good condition, he will also stare and smile at you, suck his own hand or grab the hand of the talker. Motor skills: The newborn has many innate motor skills. For example, if you lay your newborn on his back and hold his hands against his feet, the baby can crawl forward. Walking reflex: help the baby barefoot board upright in bed, he will step forward step by step, “catwalk”, walk well child is like a walk. Swimming reflex: babies delivered underwater can swim around in the water without choking. Pulling reflex: When the index finger is placed in the palm of the newborn, the finger is immediately felt to be clenched by the baby (grasping reflex). The examiner can use this to lift the baby up in the air for a few seconds, just as the ancestors of mankind hung from the branches of trees in the forests, etc. These innate abilities, if not practiced in time, will disappear naturally after a few months; if trained in time, this innate reflex will become an acquired skill.
