Post-arthroscopic ACL reconstruction rehabilitation program
Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction is a recognized treatment that has the advantages of less trauma, faster recovery, fewer complications and less postoperative pain. However, a superb surgery can only be combined with timely post-operative rehabilitation to achieve the most ideal results.
We would like to advise our patients that the reconstruction of the cruciate ligament does not mean that the knee function will be restored, but only marks the beginning of the process of knee function recovery, and without strict rehabilitation, it will be difficult to restore the function of the affected knee or limb satisfactorily. Please follow the following program and adhere to the time and amplitude of training in the program, do not reduce it at will to avoid stiffness of the joint, but do not increase it at will to avoid ligamentous laxity either.
In the 1st week after surgery, isometric contraction training of the thigh muscles is the main focus, and no knee extension and flexion activity training is performed to promote the subsidence of the intra-articular trauma reaction. Internal patellar thrust exercises were performed to prevent patellofemoral joint adhesions and to enhance the nutrient metabolism of patellofemoral joint cartilage.
Postoperative rehabilitation training plan for the first week of training: project training program training time daily times
1, brace braking and weight bearing must be locked in the fully extended position at rest: under the protection of the brace in the fully extended position, brace double crutches can perform partial weight bearing according to the tolerance.
2, muscle strength training quadriceps isometric contraction N cord muscle isometric contraction hip adductor isometric contraction 15min each 2 times.
3, mobility training patellar inward thrust 15min 2 times.
4 adjuvant physiotherapy medial femoral muscle electrical stimulation ultrashort wave or infrared lamp therapy 15min2 times.
In the 2nd postoperative week, passive extension and flexion activities within the range of 0°-90° of the knee joint and short time proprioceptive training, generally recommended to use the stationary bike on the exercise machine

1, brace braking and weight-bearing at rest must be locked in the fully extended position: under the protection of the brace fully extended position, support the double abduction line part until fully weight-bearing.
2, muscle training quadriceps isometric contraction N cord muscle isometric contraction hip adductor isometric contraction straight leg raise exercise 15min each 3 times.
3, mobility training knee passive activities 0°-90° patella inward thrust 15min15min2 times2 times.
4, adjuvant physiotherapy medial femoral muscle electrical stimulation ultrashort wave or infrared lamp therapy knee local drug massage 15min15min15min2 times2 times1 time.
5, proprioceptor training fixed bicycle line double knee rotation exercise 15min2 times
Postoperative weeks 3-6, full range of passive mobility training, proprioceptive training increased to 90min per day, and increased lower limb muscle tension training. The brace restricted the range of motion to 0°-40°.

1, brace braking and weight bearing must be locked in the fully extended position at rest: under the protection of the brace in the fully extended position, brace double abduction with full weight bearing.
2, muscle strength training straight leg raise exercise N rope muscle resistance contraction heel lift training 0 ° – 40 ° half squat 15min each 3 times.
3, mobility training full range of passive activities 0 ° – 120 ° 15min 2 times.
4.Adjunctive physiotherapy knee joint local drug massage 15min2 times.
5, proprioceptive training fixed bicycle line double knee rotation exercise using balance board, single leg stand 15min15min2 times3 times.
6.Muscle tension training posterior knee muscle, periacetabular muscle, peri-ankle muscle 15min2 times
Postoperative week 7-12 proprioceptive training time was further increased, and muscle flexibility training was added.
Postoperative rehabilitation training plan for the 7th-12th weeks: training items training program training time daily times
1. brace braking and weight-bearing with brace protection to limit the lateral movement of the knee joint; the brace is not locked, and the knee joint can be freely extended and flexed.
2, muscle training straight leg raise exercise N rope muscle resistance contraction heel lift training 0 ° -40 ° half squat 30min each 2 times.
3, proprioceptive training fixed bicycle balance board jogging 30min30min2 times each2 times.

Post-operative week 13-6 months, the main focus is on proprioceptive training and flexibility training.
