Ear piercing usually swells for a few days

Ear piercing is an invasive operation that can cause damage to the soft tissues or cartilage of the ear. Usually, the ear will swell for about 7 days after the piercing, but there are individual differences. Because ear piercing can cause trauma to the ear, it is normal for the ear to swell significantly within 2-3 days after the operation. The swelling takes a process to subside and usually takes about 7 days. For those who are in better health, the duration of swelling may be shortened to about 5 days. However, if the ear piercing site becomes infected or purulent, the swelling may last longer than 7 days, and it is difficult to heal itself without disinfection and other treatments. It is recommended to go to a hospital ENT department for ear piercing to ensure sterile operation and prevent infection during the operation. In addition, you should not touch or rub the ear piercing site, disinfect it with iodophor daily during the swelling period, and avoid eating spicy and stimulating foods.
