“Skin scratching disorder is currently classified as a disorder under the category of ‘obsessive-compulsive disorder and related psychiatric disorders’, which has features of OCD. For example, people with skin scratching disorder scratch their skin over and over again, often in response to the urge to scratch it repeatedly.
In addition, skin scratching disorder is also more likely to be associated with other compulsive behaviours such as plucking (repetitive hair pulling), nail picking (repetitive nail picking) and somatoform dysmorphic disorder (repetitive thinking about appearance-related issues).”
