A mole that disappears on its own may be a spot with a mole-like appearance that dissipates as the primary disease recovers, or disappears as a wound recovers, or it may change in response to hormonal changes. A mole, or pigmented nevus, is a benign condition due to an abnormal proliferation of melanocytes in the skin, and normally pigmented moles do not fade away naturally. However, if it is caused by a mole-like skin condition such as a cyst, pimple or rash, it can dissipate along with the improvement of these conditions. Secondly, when a mole is localized by burns, lasers, or other traumatic injuries, the mole may fade or even disappear after a period of recovery from the wound due to scarring. In addition, during pregnancy, the original localized light mole-like spots will temporarily deepen due to hormonal changes, and after the effect of pregnancy hormones passes, similar mole-like spots will become lighter or slowly disappear.
