Can children take poultices?

It’s time for winter tonic, and while adult prescriptions are in full swing, many parents also want to take the opportunity to give their children a “tonic” in the hope that they will be able to strengthen their body resistance. However, most people have a sense that “children are not suitable to eat cream”, what is the truth? This winter, the number of “children’s cream clinic” for children in our department has been increasing rapidly, and some children’s health has improved significantly after taking it for one month, so we would like to tell you about children’s cream. Paste prescription for children refers to the prescription of an experienced clinical herbalist who, according to the different physical conditions of each child, integrates the past medical history and the current physical condition, after detailed identification and cubic dispensation, prescribes dozens of Chinese herbs in reasonable combinations of ruler, minister and adjuvant, constituting a comprehensive prescription that takes into account the changes of qi, blood, yin and yang in the body. Only under these prerequisites can a regular children’s cream formula have the effect of helping to win and tonic the deficiency, cure the disease and dispel the evil, so that it can not only cure the disease but also tonic the deficiency and prevent the disease for each child and enhance the physical fitness. As children’s internal organs are weaker, choosing the right formula is indeed beneficial for improving immunity and strengthening the spleen and kidneys. For children suffering from frequent colds, recurrent respiratory infections, bronchial asthma and other diseases, taking poultices in winter can be very effective. In addition, poultices can also help children with growth retardation to grow taller, and herbs that help bones and meridians to grow can be added to the poultices at the beginning of the developmental period. Poultices have been used for more than a thousand years as a characteristic form of Chinese medicine to treat pediatric diseases or deficiencies. For example, if a child has a poor appetite, he or she can use a cream formula that benefits the qi and strengthens the spleen to regulate the spleen and stomach and help digestion; if he or she has a cough or asthma, he or she can take a cream formula that benefits the lung qi to improve resistance to disease; and for some children who are short in stature and have delayed growth, they need a cream formula that nourishes the kidneys to make up for the congenital deficiency. So, can children take poultices or not? The answer should be yes. Poultice is not a precious tonic such as ginseng or deer antler. Poultices for children are generally based on herbal ingredients, and regular ingredients such as malt, lentils, wheat sprouts and hawthorn in the poultice formula can be consumed in daily life. In addition, paediatric poultices are very different from those for adults. When doctors prescribe them, the medicinal properties of the materials chosen are generally based on drugs with a calm nature and no hormone-based materials are used. Generally speaking, the four types of children who are particularly suitable for poultices are: 1. children with recurrent respiratory infections, who often catch colds and coughs or suffer from bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. every year after autumn. 2, children with bronchial asthma, usually sneezing, runny nose, eczema or other allergic symptoms. 3.Children with chronic diseases such as chronic gastritis or chronic bronchitis. 4, children with significantly delayed growth and development, thinness, loss of appetite, spontaneous sweating and night sweats, urination, etc. It is worth pointing out that children are basically eating “vegetarian cream”. There is a distinction between “vegetarian” and “non-vegetarian” poultices in Chinese medicine. This usually refers to the use of sugar or honey to collect the paste, called “vegetarian paste”; while in the preparation of the paste, the use of gum from animal sources such as gum, turtle plate gum, turtle shell gum, deer horn gum to collect the paste, is called “meat paste”. Therefore, meat paste is too nourishing and not suitable for children. Poultices for children focus on toning, not tonicity. Although it is a traditional Chinese medicine, it has a good taste because of the addition of sugar and other substances, so children love to eat it and follow it well. In addition, taking the cream formula should be avoided, spicy, sweet, greasy and fried foods should be consumed as little as possible.
