Patients with diabetic neuropathy may not have an impact on survival with standardized treatment and a good prognosis. However, if the patient’s lesion is severe, it can affect life expectancy, and there is no specific value for how long one can live.
Diabetic neuropathy is a chronic complication of diabetes and can be categorized into central neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy, and peripheral neuropathy. If the peripheral neuropathy is mild and only manifests itself as numbness in the hands and feet, it has a small impact on life expectancy and can be reviewed regularly. However, in some diabetic patients with severe autonomic neuropathy, there are incidents of respiratory and cardiac arrests, and life expectancy will be affected.
Patients with diabetic neuropathy need to follow medical advice.
