Myopia and hyperopia do not exist at the same time.
Myopia and hyperopia are both refractive disorders and they do not exist at the same time.
Myopia is caused when parallel light rays are refracted by the refractive system of the eye and focus in front of the retina, while hyperopia is caused by focusing behind the retina. It is not possible for light to focus both in front of and behind the retina, so myopia and hyperopia cannot exist at the same time.
Nearsightedness or farsightedness can be diagnosed through an optometry examination, and can then be corrected and treated with glasses, laser surgery, or posterior chamber IOL implantation in crystalline eyes.
