Diagnosis of white spots on the lips needs to be based on clinical presentation, size and shape of the white spots, presence of skin flakes, and further examination to confirm the diagnosis. Common disorders include vitiligo, pityriasis simplex, anaplastic nevus, whiteheads, corneal herpes, mouth ulcers, white spots on mucous membranes and hand, foot and mouth disease.
