Remove the tick from the skin as soon as it is found or seek medical attention to remove it, avoiding breaking the mouthparts in the skin. Hold the head and neck of the tick with fine-tipped tweezers and slowly remove it from the skin with steady pressure in a perpendicular direction to the skin, avoiding turning and pulling hard.
After removing the tick, clean and disinfect the skin of the bite with alcohol, iodophor or soapy water.
