Is it possible to get Lyme disease from a tick bite?

Whether or not you contract Lyme disease depends on the area where the tick was found, the type of tick and the length of time the tick has been on the skin. It usually takes more than 24 hours of attachment to a tick bite to become infected.
If you have any of these high-risk factors, check for signs and symptoms common to Lyme disease, such as fever, generalised aches and pains, wandering erythema, arthritis and facial paralysis, and if so, seek prompt medical attention to confirm the diagnosis.
