This situation is likely to be acute pulpitis. One of the characteristics of acute pulpitis is nocturnal pain – the pain tends to come on at night or is more intense at night than during the day.
In addition to this, the pain of pulpitis is more intense and can be exacerbated by irritation. Some people may feel pain in half of their face and may even be unable to sleep at night. The first step in the acute phase is to relieve the painful symptoms, which can be done by going to an emergency dental clinic to open the pulp and drain it; after the pain is relieved, the next step of treatment is carried out in a daily outpatient clinic and the main treatment is to save the affected tooth through root canal therapy.
