How to eliminate malignant thyroid nodules

Malignant thyroid nodules, most commonly papillary thyroid carcinoma, are recommended for surgical treatment once detected, either in general surgery or head and neck surgery at a regular hospital. If the tumor is relatively small, one side of the thyroid gland and isthmus can be removed and lymph node dissection in the central region can be decided according to the situation. If there is also lymph node metastasis in the neck, bilateral removal of the thyroid gland and lymph node dissection in the neck should be considered. Radiofrequency ablation may also be considered for particularly small microscopic papillary carcinoma with nodes under 0.5 cm.
