What are the symptoms of chronic simple pharyngitis?

  Chronic pharyngitis is a chronic inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa, submucosa and lymphatic tissues, mostly caused by repeated episodes of acute inflammation or prolonged disease, as well as stimulation of adjacent organ lesions.  Chronic pharyngitis is divided into chronic simple pharyngitis, chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis, atrophic pharyngitis and dry pharyngitis, and the symptoms vary slightly from one type to another. Chronic simple pharyngitis patients do not have obvious systemic symptoms, but mainly local symptoms, mainly manifested as pharyngeal discomfort, such as foreign body sensation, itching, burning, dryness or irritation, slight pain; irritating cough, no sputum or granular coumarin-like secretions coughing; pharyngeal sensitivity, easy nausea; inflammation involving the pharyngeal canal may appear tinnitus, hearing impairment, etc., down to the involvement of the larynx may appear hoarseness. Due to the sensitivity of the pharynx, nausea is easily caused when opening the mouth for pharyngeal examination. It is also found that the mucous membrane of the patient’s pharynx is congested, the blood vessels are dilated, and there are scattered lymphoid follicles in the posterior pharyngeal wall.  In summary, the symptoms of chronic pharyngitis are mainly discomfort in the pharynx, such as dryness, itching, and foreign body sensation in the pharynx, etc. An irritating cough may occur in the morning, and less often coughing up sputum.
