How is HPV contracted?

HPV stands for Human Papilloma Virus and the routes of infection usually include sexual contact transmission, direct skin-to-skin contact transmission and mother-to-child transmission through the birth canal. Direct skin-to-skin transmission refers to contact with bath towels, underwear, pants, bed sheets, covers or toiletries used by HPV patients, etc. Maternal-to-infant transmission is less common and refers to the transmission of HPV from a pregnant woman to her baby through the birth canal during labour.
