Swollen and painful bleeding gums may be caused by a variety of factors, and it is more likely to be considered as a result of microbial infection in the mouth due to periodontitis and gingivitis. Some patients present with this condition as a complication due to lesions in other tissue structures in the mouth. Other patients who develop this condition are affected by systemic diseases, such as diabetes and leukaemia.
