There are a number of possibilities for swollen, painful bleeding gums from eating beef. Firstly, beef has thicker fibres and if there are fibres stuck in the middle of the gap, they can easily compress the gums to produce aseptic inflammatory lesions or ferment food in a poorly cleaned area causing bacterial infection and inducing swollen and bleeding symptoms. Secondly, beef is hard and patients with poor quality teeth may suffer mechanical damage to the gums when chewing vigorously, inducing swelling and bleeding symptoms.
