Do I need surgery for a prolapsed internal haemorrhoid?

Surgical treatment is not always necessary for prolapsed internal haemorrhoids. Conservative treatment is generally used to reduce swelling, eliminate pain, promote retraction of internal haemorrhoids and improve constipation. Surgery is required when conservative treatment is ineffective, when the quality of life is seriously affected by recurrent and persistent attacks of internal haemorrhoid prolapse, or when the internal haemorrhoid prolapses and becomes stuck outside the anus, causing oedema, bruising or even necrosis. Minimally invasive treatment with colonoscopy is the new minimally invasive treatment.
