Once a child has symptoms of intussusception, an abdominal ultrasound should be performed. Through color ultrasound, the typical concentric circles can be seen, and the intestinal tube that is trapped in the intestine, as well as the ligament, are typical ultrasound images of intussusception. For children with intussusception that is difficult to diagnose or identify, abdominal CT and pediatric colonoscopy can also be considered to further confirm the diagnosis. For children with a clear diagnosis of intussusception, two types of treatment are available. Conservative treatment is to inflate and pressurize the intestine through colonoscopy and proctoscopy to push out the intussusception and restore it to its normal position. If conservative treatment fails, active surgical treatment can also be considered, which is more ideal.
