Fluconazole ointment for glansitis

Fluconazole ointment is an antifungal ointment that is applied topically to the glans to treat fungal glans, but is not effective for bacterial glans and trichomoniasis, etc. When fungal glansitis occurs there can be erythema on the glans with clear borders and a smooth erythematous surface, with small papule-like changes around the edges. It is usually accompanied by a discharge, mostly white or milky, which can be filamentous or membranous. It is recommended to keep the discharge for fungal smear or culture examination. If fungus is detected, the diagnosis can be confirmed and can be treated with fluconazole ointment. If it is an acute bacterial infection or trichomonas infection, topical application of fluconazole ointment to the glans will not have any therapeutic effect. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a detailed examination to confirm the diagnosis before using fluconazole ointment for treatment. In case of non-fungal infection, the use of fluconazole ointment is not recommended.
