Dry cough with yellow sputum is usually seen in lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis, bronchiectasis with infection, or even bronchial cyst with infection, and also pulmonary fibrosis, tuberculosis, lung tumor with infection symptoms. Western medicine believes that dry cough with yellow sputum is mostly caused by bacterial infections, which requires oral antibiotics, and in serious cases, intravenous antibiotics, including penicillin and cephalosporins, can be administered. Therefore, once dry cough with yellow sputum occurs, a clear CT examination of the chest is needed to further diagnose whether it is caused by bronchial, pulmonary or other pathologies, especially pulmonary infections that are most likely to cause recurrent dry cough with yellow sputum.
